Portrait of Tailey at 10 Weeks

What a pretty, pretty girl. I am amazed at how much the pups have grown. I know it's to be expected, but sometimes the growth surprises me anyway.

I gave Tailey a schnauzer groom on Sunday. She looks so pretty. I am delighted by her black eyes (technically, dark brown, but you can see here how dark, dark they are), her rectangular head, pretty ears and black coloration. You can still see a bit of her milkdrop under her chin, but this seems to be lessening with time.

If you have one of Tailey's siblings and are willing to share photos, stories, please email Brooke at schnauzr@gmail.com. I have been hearing from people who are eager to know how the pups are and see them as they have grown.

7.5 Week Old Tailey Says,
"Aren't I Cute?"

These girls seem to agree!

Tailey made many friends at a picnic. Here she is enjoying her time with two young girls.

Rosa: 7.5 Weeks

Rosa is Pink-Red girl and she sure seems comfortable being held. Practicing for her new life, I'd say.

Beautiful Yellow Girl: 7.5 Weeks

Dickens & Friend

7.5 week old Dickens (Green boy) enjoys time with Lily at a picnic.

Dickens Relaxes at the Picnic

Lucky guy. Laying on the grass in the shade being patted. What could be better?

Cooper Loves to Cuddle

Here he is 7.5 weeks old at picnic sitting on Lily's lap.

Cooper has Travel Plans!

Cooper (aka, White Stripe Boy) flies off to meet his lovely owner tomorrow. He is really excited about the big adventure on the airplane followed by arriving and showing off how loving and beautiful (um, Cooper corrects me--how "effortlessly, smoothly masculine") he is.

Have fun, Cooper. We will really miss you. Ash, Cooper's big cousin, will especially miss playtime with his little side-kick. "See ya around, Lil' Buddy," says Ash.

"I like this picture of myself looking naughty--wait! I mean innocent! Yes, innocent of all naughty thoughts and behaviors, yes ...," asserts Ella.

Ella at 8 Weeks:
Sweet-Faced or Concentrating on World Domination? You decide.

Red girl (Dinsdale-Chimera Barbarella "Ella") has been in Canada with Lori, Mira's breeder and co-owner, for a week. Ella has made herself at home and is only waiting to grow large enough to seriously compete for top puppy honors at Dinsdale. Ella will have to take down feisty older cousin Trinity if she wants that spot! Easier said than done, one might conclude, considering that Ella is currently a fraction of Trinn's size. "It would be a mistake to underestimate one of my daughters," observes Mira. "Ella will prevail!"

Is this the Face of a future Hunter & Herder? Red-Yellow Boy at 8 Weeks:

Red-Yellow Boy (Cash) flew off to his adventure-filled new life yesterday. I am excited that Cash will have such neat opportunities to show what Standard Schnauzers are made of--to ducks, geese, cattle (when he is bigger) and all the hunting prey he will pursue. SS like nothing better than a variety of jobs that draw on all their skills and creative problem-solving abilities. Little Cash may not realize it now, but he has a fun and stimulating life ahead! What a lucky boy!

Oh, did I mention? He's awfully cute too, so no doubt Cash will meet the ultimate challenge faced by SS: which family member to cuddle with next!!! Good luck, Cash; you'll need it on that one!

Two Girls 8 Weeks:

Both Pink-Red Girl (Rosa) and Yellow Girl (name to be determined after time together & family debate ;->) met their wonderful new families yesterday and began their new adventures. I look forward to updates and photos as they grow and have new experiences.

Some of the Boys at 8 Weeks:

We have White Stripe Boy (Cooper), Green Boy (Dickens) & Light Blue Boy (Vincent).

Cooper (Dinsdale-Chimera Barbaronov) & Dickens (Dinsdale-Chimera a Tale of Two Cities) are very excited to be going to their new homes this week. Vincent (Dinsdale-Chimera Barbarino) is staying with me at Chimera.

Tailey at 8 Weeks Old:

Tailey shows us how it's done in Europe by posing in a show dog stance with her full tail and natural ears.

In many European countries, cropping of ears and docking of tails is no longer allowed. In Canada, Standard Schnauzers may be shown any way--docked, undocked, cropped, uncropped. In the U.S., Standard Schnauzers may be shown with cropped or uncropped ears, but the docked tail is either prefered or not
allowed at all, depending on how the national breed standard is interpreted.

Although the undocked tail may seem odd at first to those unaccustomed to seeing it, when you get to know a pup like Tailey, who makes such festive and expressive use of her tail, it's easy to fall in love with a tail--"and the schnauzer that owns it!," exclaims Tailey. Enjoying Tailey's full tail as I do, I admit I do look forward to the day when in the U.S., like in Canada, all styles of Standard Schnauzer will be welcome in the show ring.
